A nice feature of the laser on this saw, is that it reflects both the top edge of your work piece, as well as the width (some models provide only a single reference line for one side width). Compound miter saws can cut miters just like a standard miter saw can, but both its blade and motor can pivot up and down, swing side to side, and also tilt one way towards its table, which allows for bevels to be cut at an angle that is more acute than 90° relative to its table. To make things even more versatile, a compound miter saw allows for cutting two angles at once - both bevel and angle!
